Picture of the Week: Reading on the beach

In celebration of our first official heatwave of the summer today’s picture is of the beach at Ventimiglia on the beautiful Italian Riviera. No, that’s not me under the umbrella reading, but I wish it was!

When I think of Ventimiglia I think of the beach and the huge open-air market that has all kinds of things to buy but apparently the municipal library, Biblioteca Civica Aprosiana, has the second largest collection of 17th century manuscripts and books in Italy (the biggest collection is in Venice). I’m not sure how I missed that before but a return trip is definitely in order, perhaps in the off-season.
