In honor of the unofficial start of summer one of my favorite places – Venice Lido. Located a short vaparetto ride from Venice proper, the Lido is, among other things, the home of the former Grand Hôtel des Bains, the setting for Thomas Mann’s Death in Venice. It is also home to the Venice Film Festival which is held each year in September.
